Honoring Phil Weaver
A beloved leader and friendly force of good. Hope Network CEO, 2006-2022
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Phil Weaver, after battling cancer since 2020. Phil served as President and CEO of the non-profit organization from 2006 until his retirement in 2022. Under his visionary leadership, Hope Network became the premier provider of specialty health and community services in Michigan, serving over 30,000 individuals across 78 counties.
Phil’s passion for Hope Network’s mission was inspiring. During his time with us, he often said that he had “the best job in the world.” Phil understood that the work we do changes lives, and he carried that weight with immense humility and kindness. His driving force was always the people: the staff we work alongside, the folks we serve, and the communities we touch.
Under his leadership, he breathed new life into Hope Network. He inspired countless employees and stakeholders to work tirelessly toward empowering individuals to tackle social, mental, and physical challenges so that we could help them achieve their highest level of independence.
As we honor Phil’s memory, we are reminded of his powerful legacy—one that will continue to inspire us to create a world where everyone is seen as equally human–regardless of disability or diagnosis.
Planning is underway for a memorial service, where friends, family, and colleagues are invited to gather to celebrate Phil’s remarkable life and contributions to our community. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Phil and Mary Ann Weaver Fund and/or the Michigan Victory games.
